Everyone asks what a typical day looks like….
There isn’t one.
Some days are spent on site, working through problems with clients, builders and decorators as they come up.
Others are at the desk, drawing, or going through samples until the right one is obvious.
Both halves matter.
The decisions made on site are the ones that keep a scheme intact once the building starts moving, and the drawing is what makes those decisions quick when they’re needed.

Not every space in a house needs to be a room.
This one started as part of an adjoining bedroom, but with no natural light at all it had become genuinely unusable, the kind of leftover corner that ends up holding boxes.
The owner has a respectable shoe collection, and it deserved better than the back of a wardrobe.
A space with no light is no loss at all for storage, so the collection got a room of its own, and what was dead space now has one of the clearest jobs in the house.
Working with an existing house means finding spaces like this and matching them to how the owners actually live.
It’s rarely the glamorous part of a project, but it’s often little spaces like this that makes a house work day to day.

One thing we always consider very carefully is complementary and contrasting colours, and pink and green are a pairing that complement each other unusually well.
Get the tones right and each colour makes the other look more deliberate.
Upstairs at Warren House, the pale pink of the master bedroom sits against sage window frames, and the wardrobes in the dressing area are matched to the frames rather than the walls.
Most people would never notice that decision, which is partly the point.
The same two colours carry through to the bathroom, where the tiles give the sense of spilling out of the shower.
All of the materials up here were chosen to work together, so the rooms read as one scheme with room for play inside it.
