Royal Oak Hotel

Brief
The Royal Oak Hotel in Sevenoaks lay derelict for many years, with a very uncertain future. In its heyday as one of the town’s local treasures, it hosted a variety of prestigious guests, including royalty and celebrities. Being Grade II listed, any project undertaken would be ambitious, and required to be handled with sensitive design. The developers wished to revive the building through the creation of nine luxury apartments, and a separate self-contained dwelling in the rear section of the building.
Response
The dilapidated hotel floors were transformed in the new design, creating spacious apartments with multiple bedrooms, generous living spaces, and high-end finishes. Whilst adding luxurious, contemporary finishes, the late Georgian heritage of the hotel has been carefully preserved, with traditional features restored such as the grand entrance hall and staircase, with high ceilings and traditional mouldings throughout the building.
