Hyders Forge

Brief
The property at Hyders Forge was a 1990s dwelling that, although spacious, was composed of many small, disjointed rooms that gave the house the sense of being smaller than it was. The house was also falling into disrepair, suffering with damp, leaks and poor heating. The new owners wished to completely change the existing layout to create a more open, free-flowing feel, along with more generously sized bathrooms and bedrooms to better suit their lifestyle.
Response
After appointing Coleman Anderson, who explored numerous design options of various scale, settled on the design of a very modest rear extension of less than 9 square metres, whilst principally reconfiguring the generous floor area of the existing house to create a free-flowing kitchen dining living space, with an additional utility room, bathroom study and music room on the ground floor. Upstairs, the existing layout was re-designed to create 4 generous double bedrooms, including a master suite and family bathroom.
