Burstock
Brief
Our client had recently moved into Burstock and engaged us to extend and reconfigure the house to better accommodate their lifestyle and growing family. Located in the heart of the Green Belt, the property’s age and poor thermal performance made it costly to heat using conventional methods.
Response
The property’s location within the Green Belt imposed strict planning constraints, particularly on volume allowance, requiring a carefully considered design approach. We began by strategically designing and situating the additional spaces to meet the client’s brief while harmonising with the existing structure. The final design included a single-storey extension and a two-storey side extension.
The design involved significant alterations to the existing house, including relocating the kitchen to create an open-plan layout that ensured a clear flow through the interior spaces and into the rear garden. Windows were strategically positioned to maximise natural light throughout the day, enhancing the sense of openness. The overall transformation resulted in a luxurious open-plan living area, a spacious utility room, a dedicated work-from-home zone, and a master suite with views over the picturesque garden.
We were delighted with their service and the thoughtful details they included which have made our home so special.
