CATEGORY – Commercial, Redevelopment
LOCATION – Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells

A Grade II listed building in the heart of the famous Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells. A run down, out-dated hotel then known as The Swan Hotel.

After lengthy discussions and negotiations with the council’s planning and conservation officers, a scheme for the alterations and complete refurbishment of the hotel was achieved and planning and listed building consent was granted.

The major works were on the lower ground floor leading onto the Pantiles colonnade. This required reducing the majority of the floor by 300mm and removing all the internal walls to give a large open and level space for the bar, restaurant area. Quite an achievement for a listed building.

New kitchens, toilets and function rooms were created and twenty three bedrooms were completely refurbished, all with en’suite facilities.

Granted a Civic Award in 2013 by the Royal Tunbridge Wells Civic Society for the refurbishment
